Zur Zeit arbeite ich gerade an Kostümen für Homo Faber, ein Stück im Theater Spielraum.
Wenn Ihr das Buch noch nicht gelesen hat, dann kann ich nur empfehlen es jetzt zu tun- ein klassiches Stück Literatur, das jeder gelesen haben sollte.

Die Besetzung der Bühnenfassung ist unglaublich nett und Regisseur P.Pausz ist zielstrebig daran die beste Performance aus jeder einzelnen Person raus zu holen.
Also, reserviert Euer Ticket, entweder für die Premiere (inklusive kleiner Ansprache und Buffet am Ende) oder für einen der Folgeabende.

Right now I'm busy preparing costumes for Homo Faber, a play in Theater Spielraum.
If you haven't read the book by Max Frisch I recommend you do it now, it's a main piece of classical literature that everyone should have read.

The cast is lovely and P.Pausz, the director, is very eager to get the best performance out of every single one of them.
So try and get your ticket for either the premiere (including a lovely little speech and buffet afterwards) or one of the following nights.

There's also an introductional night on Sat, 18th, at 8 pm if you're eager to learn more about the background of the production, the book and history.

Since 3 years Vienna hosts an art event called "Wohnzimmerbiennale" or livingroom biennale- an art festival hosted in a private flat. For one day the flat is turned into a temorary offspace, a public place open for everyone to attend.

The masterminds Kasra, Jakob, Alex and Veronika describe the main idea as "nomadic"- the exhibitions move from one living room to another. The element is participatory: everyone is welcome to exhibit. The selection varies from photography, painting, performance, readings, sculpture, live-acts.......

This year I entered in an artist collective with a project called "define: love", my partner in crime was Florian, head of "J'aime Julien", Dj and sound designer par excellence.

The idea was to create an interactive sculpture that explains the omnipresent existence of love with using texile-acoustic elements.
It can be our engine but also slow us down. It's the foundation that enables various actions and empowers our energy, but in it's downside it represses every development.
Love stands for animation and stagnancy.

The figure we created carries the meaning for this facettes, embodied by a mannequin. Personal photographs were manipulated with various techniques, such as embroiding, sewing, burning and cutting and then built together to a snap-shot textile.

The dress permitts a gaze into the emotional world of it's carrier, covers her but, in the next minute, exposes her as much as anyone can be. Her head is cloaked, so she's forced to focus on an inside view- her eyes are hidden to the observer.

She carries a note book in her hand, everyone attenting her is allowed to write down their associations on the topic of love. Within the day of the exhibit a re-collection of perpectives arises.

The sound collage quotes various adaptions of love from film and pop music and layers them up with the sound of Pebelle's sewing machine. We consiously picked contrary samples, so the audience can individually rate and connect it with the impressions they get from looking at the sculpture at the same time.

Pebelle pops up @ The Fox House, Vienna

The Fox House is a new creative meeting point for DJ's, artists, photographs and fashionistas and will host a lot of various projects in the next year.
Right now it's close to it's opening evening on Thursday, 1st of December-
one month it will be a comfortable area to hang out, have a drink, listen to good music and shop for fashion or photography.

Right after the motto: "Whatever you do, don't be another brick in the wall"

Pebelle's got the honour to be one of the participating designers and showcase a brandnew work series of scarfs, tights and bodywear.
But an absolute newcomer will be the unique jersey cardigans plus a very limited stock of air corded sarouel pants, both for men and woman.

There's also the chance to shop for a very limited sale series of the Pebelle "peephole bags". They're fairly produced out of recycled british newspapers, with a small handle to carry and a peephole to glimpse a surprise pair of tights. And with a nice price too.

Das Fox House ist eine neuer Treffpunkt für DJ's, Künstler, Fotografen und Fashionistas und wird im kommenden Jahr eine Menge netter Projekte beherbergen.
Es befindet sich gerade kurz vor seinen Eröffnungsabend am 1. Dezember und bietet einen komfortablen Platz zum Abhängen, was zu trinken, gute Musik zu hören und nach Mode und Fotorafien zu stöbern.

Gemäß nach dem Motto: " Whatever you do, don't be another brick in the wall".

Pebelle hat die Ehre eine der teilnehmenden Designer zu sein und eine komplett neue Arbeitsserie an Schals, Strumphosen und Unterwäsche zu zeigen.
Die absoluten Newcomer werden unikate Jersey Cardigans sein, sowie sehr limitierte Sarouelhosen mit Biesen, beides jeweils für Männer und Frauen.

Ausserdem gibt es die Chance eine ebenfalls limitierte Sale Serie von den Pebelle "peephole bags" zu kaufen. Sie sind fair aus recycelten englischen Zeitungen produziert, mit einem kleinen Tragegriff versehen und bieten ein Guckloch um einen Blick auf die Überraschungsstrumpfhose werfen zu können. Und das für einen guten Preis.

Right before the christmas shopping weeks start a new bunch of Pebelle items has hit the shops Schuhbelle (Frankfurt, Germany) and Art Up (Vienna, Austria).

And so, in August to be precise, the first Vintage department store, BLITZ, opened it's doors to the public.
And how I was surprised to see my ex-boss, John Howlin, beeing the mastermind of this unique project.

Spread up in 5 rooms you can shop for brands such as Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood, check out the home accessoiries or furniture, flick through books or get a record you always wanted to have.
Or take a break in the Blitz Cafe, which serves you a premium espresso served from one half of a converted Fiat.

Und so hat, im August um genau zu sein, das erste Vintage Kaufhaus, BLITZ, seine Pforten geöffnet.

Music, skirts, wine and life

I spent last week in London, where I literally did nothing else but live like a vampire. If I managed to leave the house at all it was after dark. All I did was eating, sleeping, reading, writing, sketching and listening to calm music. And I really enjoyed this bunch of time for myself.

Oh yes, I left the house during the day, either to meet my friend and photographer Richard Kelly for some good food and creative exchange (futurse surprise) or once to check out the brilliant area around Brick Lane and sniff some Vintage flair on a Sunday.

And I went to see wonderful Mister William Fitzsimmons in a Pub in Camden. I never saw him live before and was really impressed, no wonder he calms you down just by listening to him. As a former psychotherapist and with very personal songs about his childhood and other relations he manages to touch everyones soul.
Not less impressive was his supporting act Scott Matthew.

Afterwards we were so pumped up with emotions we just had to share this two bottles of wine. And somewhere in between I even managed to exchange a few lines with W.Fitzsimmons. He's such a nice guy!

For this occation I wore the skirt I had on the runway in September, as I am way too small it was obviously pretty wet from the damp London pavements in the end.

Foam Amsterdam presents new talents

FOAM Amsterdam presents the future of the photography museum "What's next?" between 5th of Nov and 7th of Dez.
"Four concepts, four guest curators, four visionary presentations and one museum in which they all come together."

Amongst the guest curators is Jefferson Hack, founder of the edgy british magazine Dazed&Confused, that is well worth checking out if you don't know it yet.
His presentation is titled "Photography as image" and shows two large scale-sculptures entitled "mother sculpture" and "rise sculpture"- the first one to represent work of photographers that have worked with his magazine for years. The other one to present new talent.

And I am so happy that my London based friend Alexa is amongst those "new talents" and that I could see her face when she found out, which luckily happend during my stay in London.

So if you live close by or pay a visit to that wonderful city you should defintely pass by the museum and take a look at it.

Mix 'n' match- oh how the graphic on the lady's trousers reminds me of my high school days.
The consequent use of black and white combined with wearing very oppsite patterns- a huge thumbs up for that lady- you should have seen her cute Bob- Hairstyle. I just didn't want to embarrass her peaceful ride on the underground by flashing right in her face.

Beliebiges Kombinieren- oh wie ich die Grafik auf der Hose dieser Dame liebe- es erinnert mich an meine Gymnasialtage.
Die konsequente Verwendung von Schwarz und Weiss kombiniert mit den sehr unterschiedlichen Mustern- Daumen hoch für diese Lady- und Ihr hättet mal ihren tollen Bob sehen sollen. Ich wollte ihr jedoch nicht ihre friedlichen Minuten in der U-Bahn mit Fotoblitzgewitter mitten ins Gesicht vermiesen.

In wenigen Tagen, dh. eigentlich schon diesen Samstag 24.9, hat Wien ein neues Stöberevent - den Lieblingsflohmarkt!

Bei leckerem Kuchen von der Backmarie, den (ich bin neugierig) besten Waffeln von Wien und leckren Getränken aus der Hotelbar kann man nach Lust und Laune Vintage und Design goodies erwerben.

Ach ja, das Ganze findet im Hotel am Brillantengrund in der Bandgasse 4 im 7.Bezirk von 12h-20h statt.
Bei Regen wird einfach abgesagt!

Ich habe mich gleich in die Eigenbeschreibung der Veranstalter verliebt, denn genauso stelle ich mir gemütliche Flohmarktsamstage vor:

Kommando Elefant + Kommando Pebellefant?

Kommando Elefant rocked the Gürtel Night Walk and they like Pebelle scarfs- here a little impression of their gig. As ever so often with outdoor gigs it started pouring down with rain right on that afternoon so the concert was placed inside, which meant much less space and a delay due to the re-organisation.
With his witty and nice words to the (very young) crowd Alf, the lead singer managed to change their unpatient and grumpy mood into a big mass of singing romantics.

Kommando Elefant rockten den Gürtel Nightwalk und sie mögen Pebelle Schals- hier ein kleiner Eindruck ihres Konzertes. Wie immer bei Freiluftveranstaltungen hat es auch diesesmal am Nachmittag begonnen in Strömen zu regnen, weshalb das Konzert hineinverlegt wurde- mit bedeutend weniger Platz und einer grossen Zeitverzögerung auf Grund der Reorganistaion.
Mit seinen witzig-weisen und netten Worten hat es Alf, der Leadsinger geschafft das zum Teil sehr junge Publikum von einer ungeduldigen und grantigen Stimmung in singende Romantiker zu verwandeln.

One minute it's August, next minute September and the summer officially over.
A month full of new projects and work is coming up to me and here's a little reminder of what's going on.

My friend Jennifer Pearl from Los Angeles and her husband Chris Badger are the two masterminds of VUM- a very unique band project with lovely, psychedelic sounds that I tend to listen to while I work.

We've already been working together costume-wise for their video on "Mountain tooth" and now they are in the processs of working on their 2nd album "Night Sun"- if you follow that link you can back this project with a little donation.

Yesterday I was proud to be part of Vienna's 1st blogger fleamarket, we could emtpy our closets and dig for a lot of treasures during that rainy summer days.
The weather was brilliant, the music was great, the home made food delicious, chilled drinks were served and everyone was relaxed- a great way to shop for affortable vintage goodies and meet some of Austria's best fashion bloggers in person.
Our hosts were Vienna's denim gods "Gebrüder Stitch" (Brothers Stitch), whose main focuss is on creating customized organic jeans.There denim laboratory plus the yard outside made a perfect location.

Ich war stolz gestern Teil des 1. Wiener Bloggerflohmarktes zu werden- während der regnerischen Sommertage hatten wir genug Zeit in unseren Kästen nach Schätzen zu graben. Das Wetter war brilliant, die Musik cool, die hausgemachten Speisen köstlich, die Drinks gekühlt und jeder war entspannt- eine gute Voraussetzung um nach leistbaren Vintage-Goodies zu shoppen und einige von Österreichs besten Modebloggern zu treffen. Today I had a conversation about this everywhere excisting wish to become rich and famous.
Me personally I am not so sure about the part of being famous- it seems to be a lot of pressure and stress to me. In other words: I love leaving the house in my pyjamas to get milk from the supermarket without a bunch photographers following me round.
But I wouldn't mind having not to worry about money. Altough I know people say money also doesn't make you happy, but still- it enlightens life.
Anyways, there has been the idea in my head for weeks now to post songs about being rich and famous, there are endless songs- I made my personal choice.

Ich hatte heute eine Unterhaltung über den überall existierenden Wunsch reich und berühmt zu werden.
Für mich persönlich kann sagen, dass ich mir über den Part des Berühmt seins nicht so sicher bin - es scheint mir doch jede Menge Stress und Druck damit verbunden zu sein. In anderen Worten: Ich liebe es morgen im Pyjama mein Haus zu verlassen um Milch aus dem Supermarkt zu holen ohne dass mich ein Haufen Fotografen verfolgt.
Was auch immer, die Idee ein Posting für Songs, die vom Berühmt und Reich sein handeln, hatte ich ich schon ein paar Wochen im Kopf, die Auswahl ist endlos, hier ist meine Selektion.

As my granddad died I collected a lot of memorabila from his apartment to save it- amongst it this lovely pair of braces.
After years now of watching out for the right person to get it and appreciates this little treasure I finally found one.
Dirk from Berlin, he's the perfect canditate- and he was so nice to send me this lovely image of his.

Nach dem Tod meines Großvaters habe ich all seine Erinnerungsstücke aus der Wohnung geholt und in Sicherheit gebracht- darunter auch dieses wunderbare Paar Hosenträger.
Jahrelang auf der Suche nach dem perfekten Träger, der diesen kleinen Schätz auch den nötigen Respekt entgegenbringt habe ich endlich jemanden gefunden.

I adore elder ladies- don't ask me why.
I suppose it's their history, their realm of experience that surrounds them like an invisible curtain.
And their, sometimes, mouth opening styling decisions. I don't mean that in a bad way- seeing grans like this one simply makes me smile and feel good.
I had to capture her secretly as she brings on the brilliant combi of tartan and tie dye!!!

Ich bewundere ältere Damen- fragt mich nicht warum.
Ich nehme an es ist ihre Geschichte, ihre Erfahrungswelt, die sie umgibt wie ein unsichtbarer Vorhang. Und ihre Stylingentscheidungen, die, manchmal, meine Lippen nach unten klappen lassen. Das ist nicht böse gemeint, Omas wie diese zu sehen entlocken mir ein Lächeln und ich fühle mich gut.
Diese musste ich heimlich fotografieren, sie rockt den Schottenkaro vs. Batik Style einfach genial!

Mark and Julia - so much better than Romeo & Juliet

A couple of days ago, Monday to be precise, my colleagues and friends Mark+Julia presented their new SS2012 collection in Vienna.
Already shown in Berlin during Fashionweek they gave us static people to get a glimpes of their latest work.
The show was hosted by Motheragency.

I can't remember telling them ever, but still they managed to pull off an entire collection with my two favourite colours: blue and nude!

I am also a huge fan of all kinds of strings, wires, bandages and everything that can be formed, wrapped, chopped, bound and so on - so obviously my favourite was the cape, which was completely made out of strings.
No wonder the collection is called "bound"!

Here a few rare shots I took (whith my phone which excuses the bad quality).

Vor einigen Tagen, Montags, um genau zu sein, zeigten meine Kollegen und Freunde Mark und Julia ihre neue SS2012 Kollektion in Wien.
Bereits auf der Fashionweek in Berlin gezeigt, hatten auch wir, die eher statischen Personen, die Chance einen Blick auf Ihr neuestes Schaffen zu werfen.
Gastgeber war die Mother Agency.
Obwohl ich mich nicht erinnern kann ihnen jemals meine Lieblingsfarben genannt zu haben, war die gesamte Kollektion in Nude und Blau gehalten.

Ausserdem liebe ich Schnüre, Drähte, Bändchen, Kordeln und alles was leicht geformt, geknotet, gestutzt, gebunden usw. werden kann. Offensichtlich war also das Cape, das komplett aus Schnüren bestand, mein Favorit.
Kein Wunder also dass die Kollektion den Titel "Bound" trägt.

Yoga for Life

I stumbled upon this guy just a week before (obviously) his story was in a free daily "newspaper".
Basically he's a recovering alcohol addict that does a head stand all day long to prevent himself from sliding back into old drinking habbits.
Sad, but true.
Also: the coins he earns on doing that all day long, no matter what the weather is like, safes him from becoming homeless.
I saw him and envy him for his strength and will to fight the obstacles of life.

Eine Woche bevor Österreichs cheesy Gratiszeitung seine Geschichte erzählte stolperte ich über ihn.
Ein genesender Alkoholkranker, der den ganzen Tag am Kopf steht, in erster Linie um nicht wieder rückfällig zu werden.
Traurig, aber wahr.
Ausserdem verdient er so seine Tantiemen, tagaus, tagein, bei jedem Wetter- es bewahrt ihn davor obdachlos zu werden.
Ich sah ihn und bewundere seine Stärke und den Willen die Steine, die einem das Leben in den Weg legt, zu überwinden.

And another occasion that is taking place soon is the fleamarket of Vienna's fashion bloggers- during the last rainy days they all emptied their closets to give you the chance to grab a bargain.

The location will be the denim laboratory of Vienna's famous "Gebrüder Stitch", a combo that does the most incredible customized wet dream jeans. We're allowed to use their rooms to host this market and I am proud to be part of it.
As I was collecting vintage items since my teen-times and slowly but constantly run out of space and energy to keep them I say bye-bye to a lot of treasures.

Apart from my lovely friend Idijaneiro you will find myself entertaining you with music goodies and be sure to wear tie dye or at least die trying. Actually we won't see it anyway, as it's too dark.

So be there and enjoy yourself.

Wer sich Samstags nichts besseres zu tun findet checkt einfach im Elektro Gönner ein- ein ehemaliger Elektroladen der in eine Bar/Disco verwandelt wurde, versteckt in einem Hof in Wiens 7.Bezirk.
Unabhängig von meinem guten Freund Idijaneiro werdet Ihr mich dabei erwischen wie ich Euch mit musikalisch unterhalte.
Dresscode tie dye- wir drücken aber sämtliche Augen zu, man sieht's im Dunkeln eh nicht.

The Rainbow Valley Show

Thursday was a good day- it was the day my friend and painter PauldeFlorian did his degree at the academy of fine arts, Vienna.

His rainbow valley show, based on the movie "Rainbow valley" from 1935 with John Wayne.
Paul used images from the movie and topped them up with colours- colours were a strong theme within the dialougs of that movie but opposed to the fact that it was in the black/white movie area.

The rainbow valley show itself played with the aesthetics of cowboy themes paired with the rainbow coloured bandanas used in the 80s, when gays weren't so out in the open and had to use colour codes.

All in all the diploma was a successfull and here are some images of the performance that took place in between his wonderful paintings.

You might find the odd Pebelle tank top too.

In the context of the 11th festival for fashion and photography, Thomas van der Jeught and Marianne Vlaschits will build an installation made out of togas- exactly the ones that were used for the dance film "Cockaigne d'Or".
This textile sculpture will topped up with exotic fruits and other goodies - expanding the room and your senses.

Vienna's Samstag Shop will host the screening of the movie tomorrow, starting at 19h-
be there!

Aren't we all Bowerbirds?

As you might remember I have recently created costumes for the performance "Bowerbirds" of Viennese artist Marianne Vlaschits and her partner in crime Swedish artist Michael Bäckström.

The performance took place within the performance series 'Synaptic Driver' in collaboration with the Wiener Art Foundation at the Donaufestival Krems.

Here are the final images of the performance, where you get a good impression of the Pebelle costume design as well.

For this performance I created to full Bodysuits made out of Spandex material, dyed according to the colour schema the artists had within their works.
I've added net lace attachments on the neckline to create a bit of a birdy impression without taking the artist's free moving space.

I was a very lucky girl today stumbling upon this lady!

That's why I chose it to be my outfit of the day, this lady just made me smile.
Not because I laughed ABOUT her but because her own unique way showed some creativity and obviously the " I don't care what you think about me"-Attitude impressed me a lot.

The tie dye dress obviously made me look- but the thing that really impressed me:
The HAT!!!
Made out of a blue plastic Ikea Bag, with a fine scarf wrapped around and a dandelion stuck inside to give it a floral note.

It took me a while sneaking around her to take that image.

I said it alreay but will say it again untill the new season of HBO's True Blood will be out and about- then u can force me to shut the fuck up.

I had the honour to create a series of tops to be used within the new season, so far I have a def. fix for Tara to be wearing one in episode 5- let's all cross our fingers that there will be use for more of them. I love the series so it is a special heart-interest for me to be able to participate in this tiny little appearance.

Wonderful London based curator Polly just recently posted her beloved Pebelle tights on Fancy.

This is how I stumbled across this page- how could I have missed that so far. This is a perfect source for me and the best place to show off my favourite items too.

I do collect unique vintage items and as I'm an active fleamarket-shopper since more or less 20(!) years now I have a reasonable collection at home.

The Jamborines

Settled within the beautiful french part of Switzerland the Jamborines have set sail to conquer the world- and with their ambition and coolness I'm sure they will find success.

Winning the Coca Cola Band Contest in Lausanne, Switzerland last year, these busy guys are in the process of throwing out there first album "New logic for old hearts".

I personally feel attached to this guys as we share a little history: we've both started at about the same time and the singer and I have exchanged our news about our ongoing "outcome" with our projects.

So somehow it wasn't far off that I have just recently produced a series of T-Shirts.

Overdressed and Underfucked

You do sure remember her from one of my fellowship posts (La vita é bella).
Madame Serenissima, one of my biggest fans and rude girl of Viennese's party scene was seen last weekend with a very nice interpretation of Pebelle tights: she just chopped them off & used them with suspenders

The outfit just simply rocks- that's why it needs to be shown to all of you.

It also needs mentioning: Serenissima and her companions, George and Baron Mucki, are heads of a new party series that takes place in town: with the provocative title "Overdressed and Underfucked" they host a nice get-together with fun DJ_Lines every first Saturday of the month.
The location is Shelter.

You can either join their network on their facebook page or simply check out the next party on June 4th- one thing is for sure: you never know what's going to happen but you can be sure to hear the trashiest music and see the fanciest dress-ups in town.

This is going to be fun_ my most recent work is a pair of costumes for the BOWERBIRDS performance of two great artists!

Marianne Vlaschits, who walks between the discipline of installation, performance and painting, an emerging artist, coming from Austrias academy of fine arts and Michael Bäckström, artist from Sweden are going to present a joint performance
As part of a happening lasting several hours, Vlasitsch/Bäckström will see installations, sculptures, rituals and dances emerging, which, as they say themselves, can best be described as “shamanistic”. Similar to the mating behaviour of male power birds, which build complex nests to attract females, Vlasitsch and Bäckström will adapt themselves and their “nests” to the audience they want to attract.

The Bowerbirds
During mating season they show a unique courtship behaviour, the males builds a structure (BOWER) and decorates it with sticks and brightly coloured objects in an attempt to attract a mate.
The ladies decide which one's their favourite by comparing their architectural and performative skills whilst the males sing as good as they can. Accoring to the species the favored colours vary.
Males also try to attract a partner by squeezing berries and arranging them inside their "love cage".

The artistic networks of the donaufestival will be expanded this year with a happening and performance project. In collaboration with Wiener Art Foundation, different forms of action and representation of performative practices will be presented under the title of “Synaptic Driver”. In line with the festival’s motto, “Nodes, Roots and Shoots”, 12 contributions will examine the possibilities of experiencing performative works not as individually completed events, but as open, network-building forms of artistic expression.

The venue is the vacant, former electrical shop Elektro Gantner. It is located – only a few minutes from the festival’s main halls – on the edge of the Stadtpark. Visitors passing the exhibition space on their way to the concert halls are invited to drop in.

It could have been a bit brighter and warmer but nevermind- we've been there, done it and it was fine.

Thanks to the uncomplicated and real professional work of our model Nathalie, who never complained altough she was already showing goose bumps, we managed to finish the shoot according to our timing.

The location was Viennese's Badeschiff - a great location for partying, dining, chilling and swimming- the kitchen is amazing, you can enjoy some real good vegetarian/vegan stews and the smell of freshly baked bread is filling the air (plus it made the odd stomache rumble from time to time).

I also wanna say thank you to everyone involved!

A new shooting is coming up end of this week and it will include lots of skin and (hopefully) lots of sunshine.

Michele, the fotografer and I have tested our location on the first real hot day of this spring- it was also the opening day of Vienna's literally swimming pool- a ship docked in the center on town- including a fantastic restaurant, a bar and party location but last but not least a swimming pool in the rear back of the ship.

As there wasn't anyone else around I had to pose a bit so we could check the light situation......my dress is by Isabel Marant by the way and two sizes too big, but who cares?

True Blood- my blood- a glimpse

Well, I obviously do recognize my work- Tara's wearing a top from Pebelle for the upcoming season of True Blood- starting in June.

I am glad, they've used a spoiler that shows a tiny glimpse of it. I can only hope we will see more of it when the actual season starts- word is it will be in Episode 5.

Another month is coming to an end- I am glad that finally everything's awakening from wintery cocooning.
As it's blooming outside, new ideas are growing inside of me.
A few nice art projects are coming up, two sale events are planned (Vienna and London) and there will be more press features coming as well.
Soon you can look at my colourful swimwear creations and choose from a range of lovely socks, perfect to go with clogs and sandals.

Coral dreams

My grandmother died close to ten years ago..... for me the most painful loss I have experienced in my life so far.

She's been kind of a style icon. Always sewing her own clothes and the ones for my dad & uncle- you could spot her in a small pepita costume or a later on in a Jackie O shift dress, big glasses & handbag- never without heels and Ialso remember her telling me proudly how we went boat rowing on a lake in the 50's- with a transparent blouse.

My childhood was marked by doing "catwalk" shows for my granparents- me choosing from her collection of goodies (corc plateau sandals, etc), dressing up, walking out, them clapping and me walking back getting changed- one of the most wonderful memories for me.

Well, after she died hardly anything of this goodies were left- the ones I could get a hand on, I kept- you might have spotted some of her items in old shoots- so far I have for example used her woooden glogs with heels for the forest shoot or her grandmothers embroidered bedspread in the Le Boudoir shooting.

Now I have re-discovered her coral necklace- I have had it since her death but not used it a lot- but recently I did items for a shoot in Düsseldorf and that's when I became aware that I am in a coral red mood.

So here are the dyeing results and a glimpse of my gran and her great necklace.

DIVA magazine @SamstagShop "Sekt&Shopping" session

Diva, one of Austrias big fashion magazines teamed up with SAMSTAG shop in Vienna to host a "Sekt&Shopping" event last week.
The shop opened up at 6 pm to give it's guest the opportunity to shop, chat with participating designers and slurp a bit of that magnificient sparkling wine.
It was the first real warm evening of this year so it was fairly busy and from what my spies told me it lasted untill midnight!

Fan Death name mystery is solved!

As I was hoping, after my yesterday's article about Fan Death- Marta was so kind to tell me the answer to my question- here's what she said:

"And yes, we are named after the urban myth, mainly because Dandi thought it was such a bizzare concept!
Apparently, some fans in South Korea have built-in timers that switches them off automatically, due to this fear of suffication."

The fellowship of Pebelle part XIII: Urban legends from Canada with FAN DEATH

Today we travel to Canada, where following ladies come from:

I first stumbled upon one of the girls through my LA based friend and producer Jason- he released the 2nd Album of her former band "Dandi Wind", which I immediately liked- Dandilion Wind Opaine has a unique and catchy voice- which also defines the style of the music she's involved with (in my opinion).
While I listened to the Dandi Wind Albums I also watched some of her videos and footages, as I reconigzed: she's a total tights girl- having the figurine of a gymnast she uniis seen in short skirts, dresses or hot pants with unique tights.
I did the maths and saw that we would be a good match- as I got in touch with her in 2009 she told me about her new band project Fan Death and so we worked out a plan to send both of the involved ladies hosiery.
Marta, the second in command is the mastermind of the synths- together they are such a nice combination that sends men all over the world into daydreaming sessions.

The Guardian newspaper, UK, called them "are a girl duo who recognise that all the best disco records were sung by women, and they sing in the blank, distracted manner of all the finest disco divas".

I forgot asking the ladies a question that burnes in my sould, so maybe I do get an answer after that article. Whenever I google Fan Death there is this urban legend, originating in South Korea, coming up, that tells if an electric fan is left running overnight in a closed room it can cause the death of those inside.
I'd love to know if that was the basis of calling this band Fan Death? And why?

They're music is electrifying and acccording to Guardian "The best and the most authentic-sounding: they're not nu rave, or an indie-dance band, or a guitar group using a funk undercarriage. They've got the slightly wonky strings, elegant mid-tempo rhythms and female vocals of disco, recalling the music's golden age – ie. between the release of Donna Summer's Love To Love You Baby in 1975 and the ritual burning of disco records in that baseball stadium in Chicago that signalled the death of disco in 1979".

Their debut single "Veronica's Veil" was remixed by no one less but Glam Trash DJ Erol Alkan,w ho recognized the duo's talent and released it through his Phantasy label, and set off an A+R whirlwind. Having signed to the Pharmacy Recording Company, a new imprint of Universal Records they have released their debut album_ " A coin for the well", wich you can order on Amazon- link here - including the tracks 1. Reunited 2. Cannibal 3. Power Surge 4. Soon 5. The Son will Rise

Touring with bands such as "Hercules and Love Affair" or "Vampire weekend" shows us just how much they're on the way to become really big.

The other release that is out so far and containing a lot more of their song material is "Womb of dreams" is full of 12 new tracks and came out in August last year.

This include their debut single "Veronica's veil"- which is refers to the Catholic relic which, according to legend, belonged to Veronica from Jerusalem who encountered Jesus on the way to Calvary and wiped the sweat from his face, leaving an imprint of his image on her veil.

Soon after our agreement I already spotted the first images of Fan Death performing in London- Dandi wearing a brilliant combination of sequined Hot Pants, Vintage boots, Pebelle tights and a wonderful Hippie style blouse- this style is so her's and I was happy how she pulled off those tights!

The making of "Le Boudoir"

Yesterday was an exhausting day for everyone involved in the shoot. We started pretty early in the morning, which, at this time of the year, when everyone's just waiting for the warmth, struggles with lethargy and dreams of a whole day in bed.

Mara, the supernice model of Wiener Models had to be brave - some of the shots were taken as good as outside, and it had -6 degrees Celsius (that's 21,2 degrees Fahrenheit!!) and she had to pose every style for like 20 minutes, with nothing more than thin socks and dresses.

And you know what? She still smiled- but after every shoot I had to wrap her in my cashmere leggings and wool pullover!

The choice you have with shooting at the Wiener Zimmer is amazing- Conny has an amazing range of collectibles- I could have done thousands of sujets- my favourites were this really old statue of a boy and the rocking horse- I suppose both are more than 100 years old.

I also fell in love with a playsuit for kids from the 19th century and a sketch block from the 20's-30's where someone drew all pages full with typical women's hair-and fashion images of that time (I regret that I didn't take a picture of those but I will go back and take one for you to see).

Michele, the photographer had her fun too- at least it looked like- she was comfortable with her thick coat and happy with the surrounding.

As we moved inside everyone felt warm and cosy and Mara, our model was happiest with the "Cupcake" Take- she ate the whole chocolate cupcake at onces.

On the last series of images we did, my comfortable wool pullover had his appearance as well- a thrift shop find- topped up with golden Pebelle stocking and a brilliant white and golden make up from Shlomit, we just got the look we wanted.

All in all I enjoyed this shoot so much, it's the first time I could use images from my pool of clothes too and not only present my items as a textile designer, but do a stylist's job as well.

Le boudoir

I have a shooting coming up this week- it's going to be real white, which (you must agree) is very unusal for me-
but it will be topped up with utterly cute Pebelle lace/dotty socks- a perfect partner for any spring shoe trends.

The location will be the "Wiener Zimmer", a unique place to shop for unique furniture- the owner has a range of amazing collectibles from all over the world. They way she puts them all together is unbelieveable, so much love towards all this treasures- which you can feel when you enter.
I totally fell in love with a metall daybed and pillows with little red english sceneries- some of this items will surely appear within the photos.

A glimpse on my new work

Through the theatre project I worked on beginning of this year I got hooked on working with Latex and the idea of manipulating hosiery even further.

So I started experimenting with Leggings- and as Latex alone isn't enough for me I have created this wonderful Glitter Latex Tie Dye Leggings.......here's a detail of one.

They will be available soon. And be sure: every single one of them is unique!

For two very special people

So, today, on Valentine's day two very important people of my circle of friends celebrate their birthday.

For one of them it's a big step, the 30th- also a reason to point out that he was the main motor that, 4 years ago, got my creative enginge running again after a long pause. Damien Jamet, tu as très spécial! Bon anniversaire, mon chéri!

The second one is someone, who's the main motor of my presentation, my webdesigner St.Roh- a phantom, but you can still see his work online on many pages and other projects, he doesn't wanna talk about. Congrats, bro, without you I'd be nothing and you know it (don't abuse it)- a very happy happy birthday to you too and thanks for everything you've done for me and kicking my ass so many times. I heart you!

If you're friends with us on Facebook you'll know her totally unique and amazing photographs- she has her own eye and the view she presents you (mostly on everday situations and places) is unforgetable.

A couple of impressions by Miss Valeruz

Plus she's one of my best friends, honest&faithful, and sometimes a mother too. I like the Jekyll and Hyde life she leads, it reminds me on my own- she can rock the nightlife like hell but if you meet her during the day you can trust her with your life.
If you mess with her she just slaps you, but you'll never find her showing you a nice face when she doesn't feel like you're a person worth it.
She's unique, she is art, she is a party icon in Vienna and wherever she travels to.

And she's modelling Pebelle in every situation possible, see yourself:

For this post I have reversed my way of working,I let her speak for herself:

I am ladin, in other words belonging to a small minority in Italy's highest mountains' valleys. We speak Ladin and Rome is very far away. My ladin identity is very strong and even though I lived the first 20 years of my life in Italy I still care to call myself ladin. I am well aware of the profilation's and identity problems in a small group. The Ladin live in 4 valleys. My village (less than 1000 inhabitants) lies at 1400 meters and the mountain reach almost 3200 meters.
eople are very introversive, they do not reach for bigger spaces, they do not talk much and especially about feeling. No wonder: the winters are hard and so it the soil. Nowaday with tourism this state has not changed yes. Money does not mean automatically a step forward.
I have chosen another place to live my early adulthood and other ways to live other than work with sports and tourism. Still, the place I come from is probably one of the most beautiful you could see. It seems like somebody did shape the mountain's silhouette. The Dolomites set a high standard on beauty if you are born there.

Still, not having this strong bond with Italy and even with the language I decided to live in Vienna (that was a kind of surprise and trial-error decision) and to study there. Comparative language, Danish and a bit of philosophy. German is the language I love best and Danish is one of the ones I still like very much.

Education is, in my opinion, the most important aspect of life. It makes life worth living and us a humanity.
I would define myself as a freestyle intellectual.It doesn't mean you are only interesting if you have a degree but for sure the depth and curiosity of understading WHY. I think non stop about "why something happens", "why something goes the way it does or it did", "why we use a word and not the other...".
That is also a reason why my boyfriend is a physicist. I do not get physics at all but I try to understand and so we have something to discuss every day (beside cooking and eating and checking stuff on wikipedia "are you sure queen Victoria did reign longer than Elizabeth I?").

The other me is basically the one where my boundaries and borders explode: party hard and with loose end. Loud and proud. Till decensy's limit (depends what decensy means to you). I found my counterpart in Salvatore Viviano (who was presented on this blog a bit earlier: http://pebelle.blogspot.com/2011/01/fellowship-of-pebelle-part-v-sicilian.html )and we both agree: we never had as crazy times as we had to together and still have.
The crazy parties are coupled with my other big passion: photography.
I am tecnically bad and not interesting in learning names and techniques.
I am interested in one thing: the second you press the button and what's in front of you.

Here, now, gone.
Be here.
Get it.
Store it.
Forever yours.

There is nothing left behind in life except for written or taped words and photography.
Especially for a logorroic and amnestic girl like me.
What was here before? Pictures or reality?
I am still not sure.
I get bored too soon. Too much noise, too much fuzz about nothing, too much action
with deep reasonment, too much insensitivity.

And then, in the middle of the only seconds without distraction: a picture.
A glimpse at what life should always be.
That is why my pictures are mostly about smiling friends (99% homosexual, I know what's good) and people having fun. Extreme fun. The kind of fun when I break my camera (happened many times) because we are having the kind of fun you want to die for (I would not mind dying drunk on a disco floor and party on in hell).
It is a continuous daydream on canvas.

I love my pictures but I do not want to put them up on a wall and wait for the world to judge. I have to like them. This makes them pure and themselves.
The only way I want them is in motion, just like they have been created.
I want them as tights, I want them as necklaces, as earrings, as -if on a wall- giant.
And only if somebody should love them- not me.
I still do not know what the future might bring but art should stand there for itself as long as it works.
I am happy if somebody likes my pictures, I hope they can produce the same feeling I get when I am moved by art.
But selling my pictures (utopic potentiality) would feel strange.
I do not know when the art you do for yourself start to get out there and like a baby grown up leaves home.
I want to wear Pebelle's tights with our pictures on them and walk the earth on them.
Because she is one of my best friend and I have wonderful pictures of her.

The fellowship of Pebelle part X: Pick your pic with Richard Kelly

Have you ever heard of the world of horsebones?
No? Well, you will, after that post. And if you are through with it, follow this man's photographical universe and it will change the way you see your everyday surrounding.
At least it worked like that with me.

Before I start, I have to mention that during my research for this blog,I skipped through all his images: on his homepage, his blog, his Flickr and so on. I had a hard time choosing pics for this blog post, I might have to ask him if I am allowed to do a wallpaper full of his images.

Okay, let's start and let you know who I am talking about:

Richard Kelly, a man I met (shall I mention it was online, risking to cause a yawn?) on my hunt after certain images I needed for my work.
Our paths crossed in a fun way: two years ago, as the wonderful ladies of Fan Death got a couple Pebelle tights for their tour.

So, at some point, I caught a glimpse from a Polaroid taken of them, with Dandi, the lead singer wearing my tights. But it wasn't easy to hunt the man down, that did the image. The girls were still on tour and hard to get hold of. All they remembered was a guy taking pics of them backstage- but in the end I found him and asked him if I could have one.
Richard was so nice to send me a whole bunch of images within an instant and somehow we stayed in touch.

The next thing I remember was me going through a phase, that every artist has at some point- it's the phase were you think about giving up what you're doing.
Somehow I must have mentioned it to him, a week later I had a little parcel in my post box with Steve Martin's autobiography. Born standing up. The title says it all.

Included in the parcel was a nice note, telling me that it's inpsiring as he never gave up and see what happened.

So I read the book and yes, it helped me continue. A much bigger motivation to just stick to what you're good at is Richard's history:

He developed an interest for photography after leaving school with no qualifications. At 16 he went to work for a local newspaper as a mail room boy.
From there he got to meet the staff photographers. From that point on, Richard went to night school to study photography and did a series of related jobs such as lab technician processing film and exhibition printer.
His aim was to save up enough money to do a degree in Documentary and Fine Art photography and so he did. After finishing he assisted various photographers for a number of years before branching out on his own.
Now he's based in London and shoot all sorts, from Advertising to Music.
And through shooting music we met.

And last year in October we finally met in person. On my last trip to London Richard took me on a tour through London's east end and altough I thought I know this town pretty well, I realized I have NEVER been to one of the oldest pubs in town, where Jack the Ripper found his victims. So this was pretty educational for me.

Richard also loves to show off his fantastic trained body in Pebelle catsuits.

The fellowship of Pebelle part IX: The fabulous world of signore A. Pasqualini

I meet him at university first, this is ages ago, our ways crossed many times, but whenever I see him I feel good- a man with a golden heart,cool and calm but very deep. And so are his paintings.
Originally from Südtirol Andreas was raised in Trentin. His bilingual upbringing was maybe also a reason to move to Vienna, were he studied painting at the University of applied arts under Johanna Kandl.
Since his degree 2008 his life is crowned with luxury and a jetset lifestyle with no end in sight

Just recently he helped Samstag Shop in Vienna to cause another traffic jam in the road outside the shop with his X-Mas Window painting:

Last year he surprised us all with this huge ( I mean literally huge, what you see on three images here is actually just ONE)- drawing: " Triumph von Bacchus und Ariadne"
It's like an hommage to all his friends and all the people you constantly bump into when you go out in Vienna- for me the picture represents the loop you find yourself in with life- Friends coming, friends going but you always stay, you have to stay with yourself so you can never leave the picture and just witness changes.
I'm within the picture as well- wearing PEBELLE tights- can you spot me?

His artistic developement shows a strong concentration on exploring various environments such as a village communities, night clubs, party life and so on. His view is as pychological as ironic but always based on intense self-monitoring.

As natural born fashionista Andreas always manages to pull off a look that is flammboyant and casual at the same time, it definitely raises an old lady's eyebrow I'm sure, but that's how we like it. So here he is modelling off his Pebelle socks.

The fellowship of Pebelle part VIII: Shapeshifting in Chicago with Heather & lots of Pure Magical Love

I met Heather, as usual these days, online, as a friend of us recommended a creative exchange between the two of us. His wish was my command and so I got in touch with her- since then we are more or less regular in touch with each other and I need to write about this immense personality with it's many faces.
And while I'm doing so I have her Myspace page open and listen to her wonderful organ loaded music.

Heather ist a multifaceted artist: a russian trained ballet dancer, musician, writer and artist. It all came down to one point: the project "Pure magical love" (PML) that she calls " my chance to incorporate all of those things!" She creates dances, rituals, and interactive performances all set to the music she composes.

Considering "Pure Magical Love" as a band wouldn't be enough as there's so much more to it. Being at a PML performance is like simultaneously being at a show, a dance recital, at church and on drugs - audience members told so themselves when asked about their impression.

Back in the 90's when Heather was part of the RIOT GRRL movement (you can find it on Wikipedia as well if you're further interested), a mainly American phenomenon, that causes a discussion if beeing the 2nd or 3rd wave of feminism- eitherways, it was creating a space where women are in charge or in the majority- including supporting and organizing women in music, readings and much more.
Being in charge of all aspects of the performance is still very important to her and I think it shows throughout her work- a creative fingerprint that she leaves behind.

Now she even branched out and started doing "ladies crack aerobics glitter danse auxiliary squad", where we they get together, workout and dance.
Some of the choreography they work on will eventually end up in future performances.

Right now Heather focuses on performing and working in Chicago, but eventually She'd like to take my vision on tour ,or even see other chapters of the ladies crack aerobics in other cities...

We can only hope she'll stop by and let us have our own round of Pure Magical Love!

Here's a first glimpse of the costumes I have been working on for Theater Spielraum.
The main costume concept was to create a unform for individuals, which is an antagonism but with dyeing, we found, it's possible.

If you haven't read it yet, you should and if you live in Vienna or close by: come and see it- it's on untill 26th of February from Tuesday to Saturday.

The fellowship of Pebelle part VII: Give me a white wall and I give you...Bears:The world of Yotto Bano

It's about time to introduce someone from my surrounding, there are many talented people in Vienna too and I won't miss out on presenting them.

My closest friend for a decade Yotto Bano can mostly be found travelling between Austria and Spain, with amarker or spraypaint in one hand and his skateboard in the other hand. And Barcelona is the city of his heart, there he found the perfect playground to combine his two biggest passions: graffity and bears. And created a niche discipline: the bear graffity.

A very appropriate comment about his work says that " his work is so cute you just want to hug the walls he's painted."

A recent project he did brought him to Vienna- the new store SAMSTAG (by the masterminds of superated) outer wall design- Together with austrian artist Andreas Pasqualini he turned the shop fassade into a tingling world of bears and roman gods, that made a lot of people walking past gasp. I have also witnessed cars slowing down, which is a bonus for the shopowners.

So, after this long ammount of time and creative exchange we have just decided to work on a project together- a collaboration of street and textile arts. And as you can see in his work gallery below, he's already got some experience with textiles anyway.
I will keep you posted on this.

Recently his work got published in the book "Hair", an anthology dedicated to the bearish aspects of visual art alongside with famous other artists of this genre, like Ralf König or Daniel Mainé!

The fellowship of Pebelle part VI: Fine, Finer, Finland. The home of Miikka Lommi & Kirsi Kissinger

At the beginning some personal rambling:
I still remember the day I recieved a mail from Miikka Lommi asking me to collaborate on a music video- I was just at the beginning of playing with Pebelle and felt really honoured.
A bit later a big parcel went to Finland- and after the shoot the items were already on sale in a shop in Helsinki. On the way back from the post office the stylist walked past Wundershop with my parcel in his hands. One thing led to another as it usual does.
Since then I'm in touch with Miikka and really hope to visit this lovely country myself one day, to finally meet him in person. My tights even dress one of his lovely children.

Mikka grew up with cameras in the 70's and did his first film at the fascinating age of 3(!) with his dad& brother. Guess the plot? Cowboys and Indians of course!
Doing lots of international music videos Mikka's now concentrating on art and fashion and also does commercials. Here's a fashion video Mikka did, that I love:

Recently we worked on a nice project together and did a logo shoot for KennelHelsinki, the production company Miikka has. Sure you recognize one of the images from the Pebelle FB page. Well, here the KennelHelsinki initals, can u glimpse them?

I did the shoot in a collaboration with Emma Bell as you can see from some stylez.

The video "Anything u want" is by Kississings' voice Kirsi Kissinger and manages to reapeat constantly that she'll do "anything u want" through a whole music video- it provokes a lot of people, but is so much more than you can see. And although Kississings band page on Myspace describes it's sounds as "nonsense words flavoured with hot voice and broken English" it's causing Break YO TV to write a whole article about this song (and video)- naming " a carefully constructed anthem for female empowerment"*.

Kirsi and Miikka have met whilst doing a Maximus vodka commercial together, that even won a national price- and have been speaking about doing a music video together.

"Anything u want" is the result- and the only video that's been done so far.

Kirsi's history is a cool one, she went to a Karaoke club in London, where friends insisted on her singing a Blondie song- Heart of Glass. A music producer in the club liked her performance and as we had it before: one thing led to another. Since then Kississings was already working with electro music producers from Miami, NYC, Paris, Berlin, London, Helsinki....
